Marriage Procedure

Procedure for Certificate of Good Conduct(CGC) -Sijil Kelakuan Baik Malaysia

This is my second time registering for CGC. The first was for studies. As far as I could remember it took less than a week. This time it took 1 whole month.

I applied on 22nd January 2016 and my application status changed on 23rd February. I think the reason that this took so long was because they were waiting for me to submit my documents to the Malaysian Embassy in Korea (As the purpose of application was marriage visa)

I went to the Malaysian Embassy in Korea to notarize my Single Status Certificate at 10.40am. Then at 11.40am I’ve received an email stating that my Certificate of Good Conduct is ready for collection.

I do not know it it was an coincidence or if they were waiting for a confirmation from the Embassy. Anyway I’ll stop here and continue with the procedure 🙂

All application MUST be done online.

  1. Go to {Mozilla Firefox version 3.6 (or higher) should be used}
  2. Click on first time log in on the bottom left and fill in your details to create an account.
  3. Verify email and go back to the link above to log in.
  4. Click on Application for Certificate of Good Conduct
  5. After reading  the Pre-Condition click next.
  6. Fill in your details, upload your picture and click submit.
  7. Your Acknowledgement Slip will pop out. Print it as you’ll need it for collection.
  8. Log in again to check your application status. On the bottom, click Status check/Update status. It should change to in process right away.
  9. Once your status is changed to Certificate is ready for Collection, head to Counter of Consular Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) with your Acknowledgement Slip and RM20 for collection.

On a blog I read, it seems others did not receive an email for collection – I did tho 🙂

Just in case they don’t, log in from time to time to check your application status ^^

*Most peoples’ status changes within 10 days. It really depends on your luck or purpose I guess.

  1. May I know do you need this when going through the marriage procedure? Is it the same as the criminal background record that can get at Wisma Putra?
